When monitoring systems detect faults after they occur they are not condition-based nor are they predictive maintenance, they become condition-based reactive maintenance. In this episode we fall back on Deathwish Dark Roast coffee as we discuss the damage being done by companies referring to ‘dummy light’ devices as condition-based maintenance or predictive maintenance tools. We discuss what makes up CBM/PdM per standards as well as the IBM definition of CBRM (condition-based reactive maintenance).
