Cancelling (or postponing) SMRP 2024 was a good call – The tropical storm turning to hurricane, Milton, is making its way to Florida. Overall, everyone is giving positive feedback, United credited us (we had already gone through security) and the hotel did not charge for cancellation or to ship our materials back. There were warnings ahead of time, but as of Sunday morning the risk was too great and Gov. Desantis issued executive orders and emergency declarations.
Yes, there is disappointment, we were planning the launching of the EMPOWER current signature analyzer during our Innovative Lab presentation on Tuesday, “Energy and Emissions as Reliability and Maintenance KPI.” So, the team figured the best thing to do is record it online, have some fun with it, and post it for viewing as we will be presenting new work next year.
