We enjoy some chocolate and peppermint coffee while discussing the real original use of the P-F chart per Nowlan and Heap (https://motordoc.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/RCMOrig.pdf) and the expansion by Moubray in ‘RCM II). The original purpose and use of the P-F chart, like lots of other things, has been usurped by the marketing-types. Yep, I now, because I was the first one to do it in the early 2000’s to push ESA/MCSA and MCA. We will discuss how to really use it and why making purchase decisions based on the P-F is really bad – and yeah, why vibration and ultrasound companies (and a few others) do their best to leave ESA/MCSA off the chart (ours is waaaay to the left). I am going to hurt a few feelings in this one.
