Initial Work on Vibration Losses and Link to Energy

Abstract: The link between vibration analysis findings and energy consumption is complex.  In this paper we will start the work to evaluate some of the basics in a study funded by MotorDocAI.io, the data science and research division of MotorDoc LLC, to determine the relationship between direct kilowatt measurements by defect and losses found with vibration analysis.  The initial work starts with a few distinct measurements in a laboratory and compared to field readings on applied electric machines.  For simplicity the initial work will focus only on machine unbalance or misalignment.  The final paper for this project will be presented at the Vibration Institute Annual Conference in 2023.
