MotorDoc VLOG 73 Novel Approach to Commercial and Industrial Assessments for Energy and Reliability

Electrical energy costs, due to changes in the generation side of power generation and infrastructure (grid) in addition to new loads such as datacenters (read as AI-driven growth), are about to skyrocket by at least 20% in many areas of the USA this summer. One of the ways companies can protect themselves is to reduce energy consumption through such things as maintenance which can reduce costs by at least 14% per the US Dept of Energy (IAS report – Rutgers University). In the mid-1990s a tremendous amount of work was accomplished by joint utility, industry and Federal set of ‘Challenge Programs.’ These had a huge impact in many areas and several of the projects have continued including software and modeling packages that are available at no cost to the end user. In this VLOG we discuss the 2000 project that resulted in a unique approach to conducting assessments based upon a practical approach that ties your reliability and maintenance program to energy, waste stream and emissions reductions while verifying the interaction and impact between each. Many recommendations within the manual (read or download the document below the video) can be implemented immediately without significant cost (or effectively no cost) just by doing what we are supposed to do in the first place.
